Answers:

1. Why Dip-Pack in preference to any other taxidermist?
As its name suggests, Dip-Pack focuses solely on the dipping and packing of trophies. We do not undertake any other taxidermy work. This implies that all work brought to us will be dipped and packed and shipped to the client's taxidermist.
2. How long will it take for my trophies to get back home?
The lead-time for trophy deliveries is generally 3 to 4 months. During late season (September to November), this may increase to between 4 and 5 months. Should there be any other delays, due to factors beyond our control such as missing documentation or delays in the issuing of permits, the client will be informed.
3. How are my trophies shipped to me?
Unless otherwise specified, all trophies are shipped by aircraft, i.e. airfreight.
4. What type of packaging is used to ship my trophies in?
Every crate is custom built for its consignment, using only top quality wood and plywood to ISPM 15 regulations.
5. Should I insure my cargo?
Your cargo can be insured, although most insurance policies only cover the consignment from airport to airport, for total loss or for damage caused in transit. Please consult your broker in this regard.
6. What is the cost of insurance?
The cost of insurance is approximately 1.5% of the insured value of the cargo, payable to the shipping agent directly.
7. How do I pay for my shipping costs?
Shippers prefer costs to be paid upfront. You or your nominated agent will be contacted prior to shipping and informed of costs and destination.
8. What happens to my cargo when it arrives in the US or country of destination?
Normally, the cargo is sent directly to the client or to his nominated clearing agent. If no clearing agent has been nominated, the shipping company will offer to clear the consignment on behalf of the client, or the client can elect to clear the consignment himself. On our page of affiliated companies we have a list of customs brokers and clearing agents that we deal with on a regular basis. Contact them by clicking on the button next to the name.
9. Why should I be dipping, packing and shipping my trophies, rather than having them mounted in South Africa?
The costs of mounting trophies in South Africa might be reasonable compared to mounting cost or taxidermy fees in the United States and elsewhere. However, the cost of shipping mounted trophies is considerably higher, taking into account that shipping costs are calculated on volumetric weight, i.e. the size of the crate rather than the actual weight. Shipping the flat and folded skins, dipped and packed, is more cost effective, but this has to be weighed up against the increased cost that you would pay for mounting your trophies in your country.
10. How is my shipment secured?

All our crates are sealed with numbered, tamper-proof cable seals. The number of the seal appears on the consignment waybill, allowing clearing agents and other officials to verify the secure status of the shipment.

All trophies from CITES animals now carry a microchip. The microchip allows us to identify each trophy. Cost as per pricelist.
